These terms are the rules for using SourceIndex. We've kept them short and plain. If something is unclear, email hello@sourceindex.ai.
The short version
- SourceIndex lets your AI agent research YouTube videos and cite them.
- Credits pay for that research. They have no cash value and they expire.
- Videos belong to their creators. We always link back to the original, and creators can opt out.
- AI summaries can be wrong. Check what matters.
- SourceIndex is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google.
The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and TooAvid Technologies LLC ("we", "us"), which runs SourceIndex. By joining the waitlist, creating an account, connecting an agent or using an API key, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use SourceIndex for a company, you're agreeing for that company and confirm you're allowed to.
What SourceIndex is
SourceIndex is like YouTube, but for AI agents. Your agent connects to SourceIndex (through the Model Context Protocol, with a browser sign-in or an API key) and can then search YouTube, read video details and transcripts, get timestamped summaries, search what it has already read, and see its own history and usage. Every transcript or summary links to the original video.
SourceIndex is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube or Google. "YouTube" is a trademark of Google LLC and is used here only to describe what our service works with.
SourceIndex is in beta. Features, limits and prices may change as we learn.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 to create an account.
- One person per account. Give us a real email address you control.
- You're responsible for everything done through your account, including by any agent you connect or anyone holding one of your API keys. Keep keys secret, and revoke any key or connection you no longer trust; revocation takes effect at once.
- Tell us at hello@sourceindex.ai if you think your account has been misused.
Credits and plans
Each request your agent makes costs a number of credits, depending on the tool, how much it reads and, for summaries, the model tier. Your usage page shows the cost of each request.
- Credits have no cash value. They aren't money, can't be exchanged for cash, aren't refundable, and can't be sold, transferred or moved to another account.
- Free credits. New accounts get 100 free credits, no card needed. Each email address can receive them once, ever, whether from the waitlist or from signing up. They expire 12 months after your account's first use.
- Plan credits. Paid plans include credits for each billing period (annual plans grant them monthly). Unused plan credits expire at the end of the period they were granted for; they don't roll over.
- Spending order. Plan credits are used first, then free credits.
- Safety limit. To protect both of us from runaway costs, if an account's costs in a billing period pass a set limit for its plan, we pause requests that need fresh fetching or new summaries until the next period. Anything already cached keeps working.
Paid plans
- Prices are shown before you buy, and sales tax or VAT is added where it applies. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel, change plan or switch to annual billing at any time in the billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refundable, including for unused credits or part of a period.
- We may change prices. We'll tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it does.
Acceptable use
Use SourceIndex for research and to build things. Don't:
- break the law, or use SourceIndex to infringe anyone's copyright, privacy or other rights;
- republish transcripts or summaries in bulk, or present creators' work as your own;
- use SourceIndex to download or redistribute videos;
- resell or share access to SourceIndex, or copy its catalog or cache to build a competing dataset;
- get around credits, rate limits, the safety limit, a creator's opt-out or any other restriction, including by opening extra accounts for more free credits;
- attack, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service, or access other people's accounts or data;
- use SourceIndex to harass people or to build profiles of private individuals.
We may limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we'll tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
Videos and creators' rights
The videos, transcripts, descriptions and other content SourceIndex works with belong to their creators and other rights holders, not to us and not to you. SourceIndex gives your agent access to that content so it can research, quote briefly and cite, and always with a link to the original video at the relevant moment. When you use what your agent finds, keep the citations and respect the creator's rights.
If you believe content on SourceIndex infringes your rights, email hello@sourceindex.ai with "Takedown" in the subject, the video or channel concerned, and how to reach you. We'll act quickly, and when we take content down it stops being served everywhere in SourceIndex.
For creators
- Opting out. A creator can take their channel out of SourceIndex at any time. Agents are then told the videos aren't available, and cached transcripts and summaries stop being served.
- The creator share. Part of every subscription goes to a creator pool, shared among creators who have claimed their channel, based on how much of their content agents actually read. A video only appearing in search results doesn't count.
- Claiming. Earnings accrue only after you claim your channel. Any estimate we show for an unclaimed channel is only an estimate of what it would have earned; it isn't an amount owed.
- Claim windows. Each month's accrued share can be claimed for 12 months. After that it expires.
- Payouts. Detailed creator terms, including payout methods, thresholds and the countries we can pay, will be published before the first payout and will apply on top of these terms.
AI output
Summaries and some other results are generated by AI models. They can be incomplete or wrong, and transcripts (especially automatic captions) can contain errors. Check important facts against the original video, which every result links to. Don't rely on SourceIndex alone for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.
Video text is third-party content. It's returned to your agent as data, and your agent's behaviour, including whatever it does with that text, is your responsibility and your agent provider's.
What's yours
What your agent writes with SourceIndex, such as answers, notes and skill files, belongs to you, subject to the rights of the creators it quotes. We don't claim it.
SourceIndex itself, including its software, design, name and logo, belongs to us. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
Changes and availability
We work to keep SourceIndex running, but it may be slow or unavailable at times, and a video may become unavailable when its creator, YouTube or we restrict it. We may change or remove features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email account holders at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use SourceIndex after that means you accept the new terms.
Ending your use
You can stop using SourceIndex at any time, and delete your account by emailing hello@sourceindex.ai. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or if we have to for legal reasons. If we close SourceIndex entirely, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and refund the unused part of any prepaid period. When an account closes, its credits end with it.
Warranties and liability
SourceIndex is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, or that any content is accurate.
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or lost business. Our total liability for any claim about SourceIndex is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.
You'll cover our reasonable costs if a claim is brought against us because you broke these terms or misused content through SourceIndex.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.
Disputes
If something goes wrong, email us first; most problems can be fixed that way. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where TooAvid Technologies LLC is organized, and disputes go to the courts there, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them locally.
